Dasavatharam’s 120 shows per day!
Kamal’s much awaited film ‘Dasavatharam’ will hit the screens on June 13th. Seventy shows are scheduled per day only in Chennai. Adding with the suburbs there would be 120 shows of the film per day. ‘Dasavatharam’s theatre list is considered to be a unique feat which is for the first time in Tamil Cinema. Dasavatharam would be screened in the theatres including Sathyam, Devi in Mount Road, Santham, Abirami, and Padmam in Kilpauk, Sangam and Swarna Abirami. Inox has announced 4 shows but it is likely to increase. In addition to these theatres Albert, Woodlands, Suriyan, Maharani, Udayam, Mini Udayam and Rohini will have regular shows. In the Kodambakkam area Kamala and AVM theatres will screen the film. In South Chennai the open air theatre Prarthana will have two shows. Mayajaal complex has announced fifty shows per day which means that all its ten theatres would screen only Dasavatharam.
Dasavatharam’ to be released in Tamil Telugu and Hindi simultaneously!
‘Dasavatharam’ had to face many troubles for its release. Now it seems that almost all the troubles are cleared and the sub-titles are getting ready for the film. The producer is making efforts to release the film on June 13th in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi simultaneously. There are also plans to release the film in some other languages. ‘Dasavatharam’ is a high budget film and the shooting for the film was going on for more than two and a half years.
Five Kamal’s in a single car!
‘Dasavatharam’ will have Kamal donning a comedian character of Poovaraghan, which will one among the ten characters. The sources say that this would be the highlight of the film. Poovaraghan Kamal is sure to make the fans laugh to the great extent. Besides this, there is another highlight in the film. The car chasing scene in the film will have five Kamal Haasan’s inside a single car.
‘Dasavatharam’ Dosa bash!
The much awaited film ‘Dasavatharam’ will be released on June 12th. The sources say that to kick start the ticket sales of the film Kamal’s fans in Chicago have come up with a Dasavatharam Dosa bash. Kamal plays 10 different roles in the film, so 10 different varieties of Dosa will be served to the customers at the New Cholla Restaurant in Naperville on the afternoon of June 8th. The tickets of ‘Dasavatharam’ will be sold along with a free CD of the film will be distributed to those who attend the bash. Similar Dasavatharam Dosa buffet will be organized by Thirupathi Bheemas in Bay Area on June 6th, 7th and 8th.
‘Dasavatharam’ has Ms. Jayalalitha!
The latest news that is doing the rounds in Kollywood is that Kamal Haasan would share the screen with the former Chief Minister Ms. Jayalalitha. The sources say that the seven minute Tsunami scene in the film might have Ms. Jayalalitha, since the Tsunami that ruined Tamil Nadu was a major disaster that made the then Ms. Jayalalitha to swing into action for the immediate relief. Let’s wait and watch whether the news is true or no.
Dasavatharam’s release postponed to June 12th!
All the accusations against ‘Dasavatharam’ have come to an end. The panel of judges, that heard the accusations, released their judgment favoring the film. Judges M. Sathyanarayanan and K. Venkataraman observed that there were such scenes in the film like Kamal stamping the Om Mantra and there are no scenes in the film that could hurt the Hindu sentiments. ‘Dasavatharam’ was expected to be released on June 6th but now it seems that the release date for the film has been postponed to June 12th.
Dasavatharam's judgment day
Many cases were filed against the film ‘Dasavatharam’. The hearing was on May 27th. After hearing the arguments from both the petitioner and the respondents Justice M. Sathyanarayanan and K. Venkataraman posted the case for judgment on May 29th. The petitioner’s allegation that ‘Dasavatharam’ hurts the sentiments of Vaishnavites was disproved by the Censor Board as it was based on imagination. The president of International Sri Vaishnava Dharma Samrakshana, Govind Ramanujadasar, filed a petition in the High Court stating that the scenes showing Kamal stamping the Om Mantra and Bagavad Gita should be deleted from the film. Another case was filed alleging that the certificate given by the Censor Board should be withdrawn. However the Censor Board being the respondents contended that it is not necessary to withdraw the certificate as there were no such scenes in the film. On hearing all the parties the judges has posted the case for judgment on May 29th.
‘Dasavatharam’ facing another problem!
‘Dasavatharam’ is facing another trouble now. The film is produced by Oscar Ravichandran. The Oscar Academy has sent a notice to the producer seeking explanation for using their name and emblem. The producer immediately changes the name from Oscar to Aascar. Incidentally the model for the new emblem happens to Ravichandran’s nephew. The sources say that if the Oscar Academy chooses to sue Ravichandran for using the name and emblem for a long time then he would be in more trouble.
‘Dasavatharam’ will be screened in US!
‘Dasavatharam’ is gearing up for a release amidst much hype and controversies. The sources say that it has been decided to showcase the film to the President of America Mr. George Bush. Kamal plays ten different roles in the film. One of the roles is of George Bush. All the arrangements are being made to get in touch with the American President. The producers of ‘Dasavatharam’ have approached the Louisiana Governor who happens to be an Indian in this regard. The trailer has also being sent to the Louisiana Governor. The sources say that a print with English subtitles will be sent to US. The sources also say that another print with English subtitles will be sent to Hong Kong especially for Jackie Chan.
1000 prints of ‘Dasavatharam’ getting ready!
Oscar Films of ‘Dasavatharam’ is getting 1000 prints ready for its first run. They will make more prints as the demand increases from theatres. ‘Dasavatharam’ is all set to premiere in three cities. Tamil will be premiered in Chennai, Hindi in Mumbai and Telugu in Hyderabad. The producer Oscar Ravichandran has stated that he would arrange a special screening for Jackie Chan in Hong Kong if the star wanted. The climax of the film would be the 30 minutes of the Tsunami scene. The censorship meetings took place recently in Kamal’s office where he has a classy screening room.
K.S. Ravikumar files a petition with the Madras High Court
Dasavatharam’s director K.S. Ravikumar lodged a petition with the Madras High Court stating that there are no scenes in the film which scorns Vaishnavites, instead the film would glorify Hindu Gods. Recently a complaint was filed by Govindha Ramanujadasar of the world Vaishnava Samrakshana Seva Sangam against ‘Dasavatharam’ seeking to remove the scenes which would clash between Vaishnavites and Saivites. It may be recalled that the Madras High Court had adjourned the case to next week. Govinadha Ramanujadasar also stated that the statues of Hindu Gods were shown to be destroyed in the film. The case came up for hearing before the judges Sathyanarayana and Rajasurya.
‘Dasavatharam’ will be released on May 23rd or June 6th?
The producer of ‘Dasavatharam’ Oscar Ravichandran who is also the distributor of the film is hopeful in releasing the film on May 23rd if everything goes according to the plan. The 30 seconds of Tsunami effect is only the scene left out to be completed and if that finished on time ‘Dasavatharam’ would hit the screens on May 23rd or else it would hit the screens on June 6th. The producer has already booked over 400 theatres all over the state and the trailer of the film is currently being played in these theatres. Meanwhile a case is pending in the court for hurting Hindu sentiments. Oscar Ravichandran informed in the court that no definite date has been fixed for the release of the film. He has lodged a petition reply to the case that there is no intention of hurting the sentiments of Vaishnavites or the Hindu’s in the film.
Time Ads distributes ‘Dasavatharam’!
The Front line advertisement production firm Time Ads is now entering the big league of players involved in the film production and distribution with the release of the most expected films of the year. The first project of Time Ads is that they will be distributing Kamal Haasan’s ‘Dasavatharam’ which is expected to hit the screens in couple of weeks. ‘Dasavatharam’ is directed by K.S. Ravikumar starring Kamal Haasan donning ten different roles in the film. ‘Dasavatharam is expected to hit the screens on May 23rd.
‘Dasavatharam’ facing more problems!
‘Dasavatharam’ seems to be facing more problems in its release. The Madras High Court has ordered a notice on a write petition seeking a direction to the Central Board of Film Certification to remove the scenes from the film which offended the sentiments of Hindus while issuing the censorship certificate. The petition was given by the International Sri Vaishnava Dharma Samrakshanaa Society represented by its president Swami Govinda Ramanuja Dasa. The petition given by them said that the title of the film ‘Dasavatharam’ was a trick to criticize Hinduism. The trailer of the film which was telecasted on May 1st in Kalaignar TV showed the scenes that offended the sentiments of the Hindus, particularly Vaishnavites. They say that Vaishnavism preached non-violence, humility and tolerance.
Plans are on to dub ‘Dasavatharam’ in Japanese and Chinese versions!
Dasavatharam’s audio is doing a good business in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The latest buzz that is doing the rounds in Kollywood is that the producer of the film Oscar Ravichandran is planning to dub the film in Japanese and Chinese versions. The sources say that Ravichandran has got these plans for ‘Dasavatharam’ when Jackie Chan suggested it to him during the audio launch function of the film. as soon as the team integrates the 30 second tsunami shots which are being processed in Hong Kong, the release date for the film will be announced. The sources say that the film would hit the screens in the first week of June.
‘Dasavatharam’ controversy clarified by Ravichandran
A Hindu organization has allegedly threatened to stop ‘Dasavatharam’s release claiming that the film had few scenes which portray Hindu Gods in a bad predicament. The producer of ‘Dasavatharam’ Oscar Ravichandran has clarified that the film will not have any scenes that will hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. He says that it is a film that reflects spiritualism and dwells about God. The producer also says that everybody who believes in God would admire the film. ‘Dasavatharam’ is directed by K.S. Ravikumar starring Kamal Haasan in ten different roles. Asin and Mallika Sherawat play the lead roles in the film.
Dasavathaaram Grand Music Release
The much awaited movie Dasavathaaram had its audio launch function on 25th April 28, 2008. The star studded show had most of the stars right from Bollywood to Mollywood. Bubbling with energy, the universal super star Jackie Chan was the centre of attraction and Mr. Nice Guy was enjoying his every moment in Chennai. The function began at 6:10 PM with Shobana welcoming the guests on to the stage. Welcome address was given by the director K.S. Ravikumar. After special screening of the trailer, honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu released the audio and the first copy was received by the Hong Kong star Jackie Chan. Popular figures who attended the show include Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Hema Malini, Jayapradha, Shruthi Haasan, Akshara Haasan, Gouthami with her daughter, Asin, Vijay, Mallika Sherawat and Sridhar, MD of Sony Music. Dasavathaaram is produced by Oscar Ravichandran and is directed by K.S. Ravikumar. Himesh Reshammiya has scored the music for the movie.
‘Dasavatharam’ release date postponed once again!
The release date of ‘Dasavatharam’ has been postponed once again. The movie which was planned for release this Tamil New Year has been postponed. Though the revised release date has not yet been officially announced, sources say that it will take two to three months for the post production work to be over. It is said that about 300 technicians are working round-the-clock on work related to post production. The movie features Kamal in 10 different avatars for the first time. Directed by K. S. Ravikumar and produced by Oscar Ravichandran, the film’s music is scored by Himesh Reshammiya. The audio of the movie is to be released by world-renowned actor Jackie Chan in February 2008.

The audio launch will be from the hands of the international super star far-famed for his martial arts! It is none other than Jackie Chan. The function is really going to rock the floor and the movie has been tripled the expectation among Haasan fans. Chan will get a chance to glimpse her heroine Mallika Sherawat who has already paired with him in the movie “The Myth”.
Dasavatharam not for Pongal!
The most awaited movie of the year Dasavatharam is no more a Pongal Release because the movie has to undergo quite number of CG effects! The entire team is working day and night to complete the movie. Nearly a dozen of foreign firms have been involved to give the stunning effects. Kalaignar TV is on a mission, to snap up all the big movies for their channel to telecast in three years time. We have reported that the channel has already bought the rights of ‘Sivaji’ for a huge price. Latest news is that the channel has also managed to obtain the rights of the much coveted ‘Dasavatharam’. But the surprising news is that the amount that Kalaignar TV had to pay for the rights of ‘Dasavatharam’ is higher than what they had to pay for Sivaji.
‘Dasavatharam’ release postponed
The much-awaited movie ‘Dasavatharam’ will release only on November 8 (Diwali day) and not on August 15th as originally planned. Reliable sources say that the delay is because of post-production work which is predicted to take about three months time. Coincidentally, the new date is one day after Kamal’s birthday which indeed could over joy Kamal fans! We believe that Kamal will make it worth the wait.
Ten avatars meet!
The shooting for ‘Dasavatharam’ is almost coming to an end. This is a mega-budget film. Machines were brought from abroad for shooting the scene of tsunami. These machines were used for generating huge waves at the sea shore. This scene was shot recently at Muttukadu. A scene in which all the ten characters of Kamal had to meet together was also shot. Now, the crew has plans of shooting a scene which involves a helicopter shot from the top of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai. Kamal has already taken permission for this from the Chief Minister Mr. M. Karunanidhi. There is also a rumor that director P.Vasu is playing the role of a villain in the film.
‘Dasavatharam' shooting in Las Vegas
One of the characters that Kamal handles in the movie ‘Dasavatharam' is that of a foreigner and the shooting for the same took place in Las Vegas . One of the schedules of the movie was shot in Orlando and the second schedule of the movie will be shot in a casino. Since Las Vegas is a city famous for casinos and gambling, Kamal suggested this as the apt place shooting the movie.
Sruthy Kamal sings in ‘Dasavatharam'
Sruthy Kamal, daughter of Kamal Haasan, is right now staying in US and it seems that she has rendered her voice in singing a song in the upcoming movie ‘Dasavatharam'. Dasavatharam’s shooting is almost complete and the post production work is going on. It is said that Kamal is fully engrossed in the post production work. As usual, Kamal is keen on getting the right Computer Graphics for the film. The dubbing work has commenced. It is almost a year since the movie is being shot and the entire crew is confident that the movie would be a great success. The film is expected to be released for Diwali.
